8 Cadets experience Gliding at RAF Kenley

On the weekend of 4 & 5 September, a total of 8 cadets from 450 Sqn went gliding at 615 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, RAF Kenley.

615 VGS operates the Grob Viking 2 seat glider, which is winch launched and has a wingspan of 17.5 metres.

Between them the 8 cadets had a total of 40 launches over the weekend and on the Saturday afternoon had a surprise flying visit from a Spitfire and Hurricane fighter aircraft.

4 of the cadets who took part have only been members of the ATC for little over 2 months and entered into the activity with excitement and enthusiasm.
