JOIN AS A CADET - are you aged 12 but not yet 17, and looking for a new challenge?

The fact that you are looking at this page suggests you are thinking of joining the Air Cadets. Congratulations, you have found the best Squadron in Surrey. All we ask of our cadets is that they try their best at whatever they do. Our ethic is 'the harder you try, the more you will succeed'. Although we understand that young people have other priorities such as school and in some cases part time work, we do encourage maximum attendance where possible and we like to see an effort to attend events.

Any young person, male or female, regardless of ability, background or beliefs can fit into the Air Cadets. As long as you have started Year 8 at school and are not yet 17, why not give it a try?

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

The Air Cadets is famous for getting air minded youth into the skies. We offer flying experience, instruction and qualifications (up to solo standard), as well as gliding - in the ATC you can legally pilot a glider a year before you can drive a car on a road in the UK!

As well as flying, you will enjoy camps, adventure training, sports, drill, projects, lessons in aviation related topics, shooting.. the list goes on and on. As you progress through your training you will also be given the opportunity to gain a BTEC in aviation studies as well as a Duke of Edinburgh Award. You'll be expected to take part in as many of the activities we run as possible, but with what's on offer you won't need much persuading!

Once you have been a member for a while and proved your commitment to your Commanding Officer, you will be provided with a uniform, free of charge. As we are a disciplined youth organisation, we will expect high standards of behaviour, effort and appearance at all times.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

You have got this far in the website and you are still reading - the Air Cadets is probably for you.

In order to allow focussed and structured training, 450 (Kenley) Squadron recruits new cadets twice a year, usually in March and September. We have a waiting list so all you need to do is register here and we will be in touch within a few days. By registering with us in good time, we guarantee an invite to the next open evening, subject to age requirements.

JOIN US AS STAFF?

Without a dedicated staff team we would not be able to function. All staff are vetted to determine their suitability to work with young people.trained and qualified to deliver world class training to our cadets. Most staff start off as civilian instructors, but many choose to serve in uniform - either as adult NCO's or commissioned officers.

If you think you have something to offer, please get in touch with us, we would love to discuss further.
